Using XMPP (aka Jabber) for IM

Ok, I've had it with QuickNotes... it's too slow, and the refreshing is driving me crazy. My solution... XMPP (also known as Jabber). It's faster, more secure, and better in my opinion.

I set up a XMPP server on my domain, and I invite everyone to come and chat on it. Of course, there's group chats, IM, file transfers, and even gateways to AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo. You can create your own group chats, and talk to your heart's content. Everything is encrypted between your client and the server, so it's secure.

To try it out, point your XMPP capable client (Miranda, Pidgin, etc...) to gregorylopez.us port 5222 or 5223 and you can register from your client with ease. Make sure you have SSL enabled, as the server won't accept non-encrypted connections (for your privacy)

Questions? Send me an IM via MSN or Skype or private mail. I plan to offer a custom version of Miranda for Windows with all the needed plugins to make it blind-friendly out of the box soon, so look for my announcement.

Andre Louis did that already. Granted, his version you had to delete about 30 plugins, just wondering hows yours going to be different?
